In 2015, 29% of the world's population lacked safe drinking water, and more than 60% lacked adequate sanitation services. Goal #6 aims to secure universal and equitable access to safe drinking water everywhere. Though other measures are needed to safely manage water supplies, trees play a vital role in making clean drinking water accessible to everyone. Even though multiple countries in Latin America are considered to have modern amenities, drinking water is still a major issue. Without clean drinking water, living a healthy life becomes exponentially more challenging.
Sanitation remains a major issue worldwide as well. It requires a level of infrastructure that rarely exists in underdeveloped towns and villages worldwide. To make matters worse, it is an understated problem that most people (often including the locals) choose to ignore. By educating the locals and providing funding for sanitation projects, improving water quality is one of our highest priorities.
